Fifty Shades Darker (Movie Review)

Fifty Shades Darker (2017) – IMDb

When the news of Fifty Shades Darker going into production I toyed with the idea of reading Fifty Shades Darker before going to see the movie. I also had plans, after I finished watching and reading Fifty Shades of Grey, to also continue on to reading Fifty Shades Darker but that never happened either lol. But I said all of that to let y’all know that I don’t have any pieces of the actual book story to compare to Fifty Shades Darker so keep that in mind as you’re reading this review.

After agonizing over how Fifty Shades of Grey (both book and movie) ended I needed Fifty Shades Darker to give me life and provide me with a competent continuation to Ana and Christian’s story. I pleases my heart something fierce to know that not only did they fulfill my only hope in going to watch the movie, but it graduated my feelings towards this series and characters to a whole other level.

I went to see Fifty Shades Darker with my sister and I couldn’t have imagined seeing all the women groups and men with their lady friends sprinkled throughout our packed crowd. It both warmed my heart that this type of movie can be enjoyed without being shrouded in all the negativity that I’m sure it got from movie critics and general haters of all things they don’t understand. Fifty Shades Darker was more about Ana and Christians’ reunion and new chapter in their relationship, it was also about these two characters breaking out of their shells that I felt they both felt stifled by in Fifty Shades of Grey.

At the end of Fifty Shades Darker I didn’t know whether to cry in happiness of finally having the next installment of Ana and Christian being on the big screen or to throw a hissy fit because I’ll have to wait another year for the final (?) chapter to their story in Fifty Shades Freed. I also hated that I missed the opportunity to see the sneak peek of Fifty Shades Freed at the end of Fifty Shades Darker, but I plan on going back and watching it at least one more time because I think I might’ve missed some things (ahem…).

I do have plans on reading Fifty Shades Darker, hopefully next month, and I am seriously more excited to read it than I was when I finished watching and reading Fifty Shades of Grey. I can just imagine the emotions and scenes not able to be included in the 2 hours movie. Gah! I can’t wait for Fifty Shades Darker to come out to DVD/Blu-Ray or Instant Video!!!
